PDAM (municipal water utility)

PDAM (муниципальный водопровод) · Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum

In one sentence. The regional water company. In Gianyar it is PDAM Tirta Sanjiwani. Connections are not universal and pressure fluctuates, so villas keep a storage tank and often a well.

PDAM (Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum) is each regency's municipal water utility. In and around Ubud connections run along the main roads but not to every plot deep in the villages. Pressure and supply can drop in the dry season.

The practical villa set-up is a 2–5 m³ storage tank with a pump, fed by PDAM and/or a well, plus filtration. PDAM water is a small line in the running budget ($7,500–13,000 a year all-in for a two-bedroom Ubud villa). What matters is how reliable the source is.

What to ask the seller. Is there a PDAM account for the plot, what was supply like from August to October, is there a backup (a well with SIPA, or tanker delivery).
